Mayo Gaels were defeated by The Neale in the first round of the Michael Walsh League played in The Neale on Sunday the 16th of February (this game was switched to The Neale after Abbey Park was deemed unplayable).

Played in perfect playing conditions Mayo Gaels and The Neale served up a very enjoyable, fast flowing game of football. Both sets of forwards scored excellent points from play in the first half with The Neale enjoying a narrow advantage (0.09 to 0.08) at half time. The Neale started the second-half in determined fashion and three well-taken points from play saw the home-side hold a 0.12 to 0.08 advantage going into the final quarter. The Gaels battled strongly in the final fifteen minutes however despite having several attacks the lads were unable to secure the necessary scores and The Neale deservingly held out to win the game by four-point.

The Senior’s next outing in the Ml Walsh League is away to Swinford next Sunday the 23rd of February.
