Mayo Gaels 0:10 The Neale 1:08 – Gaels come up short in league…

The Gaels lost by the minimum in the second round of the senior Division 1C League played in The Neale last Sunday the 21st of April.
Played in very difficult underfoot conditions the Gaels started well and had established a three point lead by the tenth minute. This good start was cancelled out however when a Gaels defensive mix-up resulted in a soft goal for the Neale. The Gaels battled on and were only one point in arrears at the interval (1:03 to 0:05).
Competing well at mid-field Mayo Gaels fought hard in the second half and were well in contention throughout the final quarter - indeed the Gaels can feel aggrieved that a late  injury time tackle on Mally Byrne didn’t yield what would have appeared  to be an obvious close in free.
Overall this was a much improved performance from the opening round league defeat to Louisburgh and the lads will be hoping to earn their first points in Division 1C when they take on Parke (away) in the next league game on Sunday the 28th of April at 3.30pm.
