2017 All-Ireland Tickets

posted 31 Aug 2017, 07:23 by Mayo Gaels

Club members who wish to be considered for All-Ireland tickets can place their names in the clubhouse this Friday evening (Sept 1st) and Saturday evening (Sept 2nd) between 8.00pm and 8.30pm sharp (the Club will not accept text/email/telephone requests for tickets).

To help raise funds for extra tickets, the club will hold a raffle for All-Ireland tickets; all who request tickets on Friday and Saturday evening will be asked to sell raffle booklets.

Please Note:
The Club has no control over the type of tickets assigned to us by the County Board (over 80% of tickets received by the club last year were either terrace or upper deck tickets). We will distribute the tickets as fairly as possible but is will not be possible to accommodate all requests for lower deck tickets.

Mayo Gaels / Michael Davitt Museum Church Gate Collection – Sat/Sun 22nd-23rd July.

posted 18 Jul 2017, 07:04 by Mayo Gaels

Please Note that the Annual Michael Davitt Church Gate Collection with take place in the Mayo Abbey Parish on Saturday the 22nd and Sunday the 23rd of July.

Proceeds from the collection will be divided between the Michael Davitt Museum, in Straide, and the Mayo Gaels Club.

Michael Davitt was one of the outstanding Irish Patriots of the 19th century. The Land League (founded by Davitt, in Castlebar, in 1879) fought for the rights of the Irish Tenant farmer and the League was instrumental in the British Government introducing the Land Acts of the 1880’s. Davitt worked unceasingly for the Irish working/farmer class and the Michael Davitt Museum is working very hard to promote his memory and achievements.

Please donate generously this weekend.

2017 Flanagan Cup, Sunday 23rd of July

posted 18 Jul 2017, 07:01 by Mayo Gaels

The Mayo Gaels 2017 Flanagan Cup Final, between Mayo Gaels and Balla, will be played in Abbey Park on Sunday, the 23rd of July, at 1.00pm.

Former Mayo great, Dermot Flanagan, will present trophies to the winning teams and refreshments will be available at the Clubhouse throughout and after the game.

Each year, the club donates the gate proceeds to a local charity or trust and this year is no different. For the 2017 tournament, the club will forward all gate proceeds to The Ann Moran Trust, Ballyglass and The Tommy O'Donnell Trust, Balla.

Please support what is always a keenly contested and entertaining game of football and, in doing so, also help out these two deserving local trusts!

posted 1 Jun 2017, 03:42 by Mayo Gaels

The Annual Mayo Abbey Fun Run was, once again, a big success when it was staged at the Mayo Gaels clubhouse last Saturday, May 20th.

Congratulations to the male and female winners in the 8K and 4K races.

Tom Prendergast and Maeve Farragher in the 8K and Andrew Quinn and Noreen Glynn in the 4K.

The weather held up nicely to make it perfect conditions for running the hilly courses around Mayo Abbey.

With over 100 runners taking part, the event could not have happened without a lot of help from the community.  Mayo Gaels GAA club would like to sincerely thank everyone who helped out on the day.

The motto for the day was....

"A good laugh and a long run are the two best cures for anything."
