Bord na nOg AGM
Mayo Gaels Bord na nOg AGM took place in the clubhouse on Sunday last, December 11th. A large crowd attended to hear reports from Secretary Martin Henry and Chairman Paul Murtagh. In a comprehensive report the Chairman outlined the performance of each team and their achievements. The highlight being the U-14s capturing the county championship title. He also reflected on the great performances of the U-8s, U-10s and U-12s in Go-Games and various tournaments. He thanked all players, parents, supporters and the dedication of the team trainers throughout the year. Paul and Martin also reported that the Bord na nOg are how self financing. This was achieved by putting a fundraising committee in place at the start of the year. The fundraising committee was thanked for their sterling efforts during the year in organising a number of very successful events the highlight being the Race Night. A successful 2012 is looked forward to.
                  
Successful U-10 Go-Games blitz
Our Bord Na nOg held a very successful U-10 Go-Games blitz in Abbey Park on Saturday last, September 24th. Mayo Gaels, Claremorris and Dunmore McHales took part in the tournament. Played in ideal weather conditions the large crowd was treated to an excellent exhibition of skills in the series of highly contested games played between the six (nine a-side) participating teams. The large attendance was treated to refreshments in the Clubhouse afterwards. The Bord Na nOg extend a special thanks to clubman James Fallon for organising the tournament and also to the Claremorris and Dunmore McHales clubs for supporting what turned out to be a very exciting and enjoyable afternoon of underage football.
               
U-15 get first win. Mayo Gaels 2-7 Louisburgh 1-8
Our U-15 team battled hard to gain their first win of the season when they over came Louisburgh in difficult condidions in Abbey Park on Sunday morning. In a very tight game the Gaels lads won by two points on a final score line of Mayo Gaels 2-7 Louisburgh 1-8. They are away to St Geralds next Sunday at 12pm.
              
Adam captains Mayo U-17s to victory in Kerry
Well done Adam Gallagher and Kevin Lynch who were part of the Mayo U-17 team that recently beat Wexford and Kerry to win the Jeremiah Kerins Cup in Miltown, Co Kerry.
            
U-15 league begins next Saturday
The U-15 league begins next Saturday, September 17th and will continue each Sunday after that. The Gaels will play in division 3A. Fixtures have to be finalised but the Gaels will be in the same group as Ballintubber, Shrule-Glencorrib, Louisburgh, Davitts and St Geralds.
          
U-13s win league title. Mayo Gaels 5-16 Naomh Padraig 0-3
Well done to our U-13 team who captured the Division 3 county league title at Abbey Park on Thursday evening. The Gaels lads needed a win to secure the title and maintain their 100% record. They proved much too strong for the north Mayo amalgamation of Naomh Padraig (Killala, Ballycastle, Lackan and Kilfian) running out 5-16 to 0-3 winners. As well as beating Naomh Padraig they recorded wins over Tourmakeady, Ballinrobe, Kilmeena and Davitts on they way to an unbeaten season and league honours. Well done to team managers John Gallagher and Charlie Regan for all the work they have done with this group. They will compete in the South Mayo blitz later this month.
        
U-13s win table top clash. Davitts 1-19 Mayo Gaels 5-11
Our U-13 team remain unbeaten when they overcame Davitts in Ballindine on Saturday evening. The ability to get goals proved the crucial difference between the sides. Davitts flew out of the blocks and lead by 0-9 to no score. The Gaels lads hit back but the home side still lead by eight at halftime 0-12 to 0-4. The Gaels dominated the second and five goals to Davitts one meant that they Gaels won on a final score line of 1-19 to 5-11. They face Naomh Padraig in the final round at home on Thursday at 7pm where a victory will secure them the league title.
       
U-13s win again. Mayo Gaels 5-16 Kilmeena 5-8
Our U-13 team made it three wins out of three when they overcame Kilmeena at a damp Abbey Park on Thursday evening. In a highly entertaining game that featured ten goals the Gaels proved too strong in the end running out 5-16 to 5-8 winners. They face Davitts away on Saturday.
   
U-13s play twice this week
Our U-13 team play two games in three days this week. They are home to Kilmeena at 7pm on Thursday and away to Davitts on Saturday.
  
U-16s go down narrowly. Achill 2-6 Mayo Gaels 1-5
Our U-16 team made the long trek to Achill on Tuesday evening and were unlucky to come away narrowly defeated. In a tight game the islanders pulled clear in the closing stages to win on a score line of Achill 2-6 Mayo Gaels 1-5.
  
South Mayo minor semi final away to Ballinrobe on Friday at 7pm
Our minor play South Mayo minor B semi final away to Ballinrobe on Friday at 7pm. Please support the lads as they bid for a place in the South final.
 
U-13s off to winning start. Tourmakeady 4-3 Mayo Gaels 4-9
Our U-13s got their league campaign off to a winning start away to Tourmakeady on Monday evening. Despite being played in damp conditions both sides served up an entertaining game with the Gaels lads making the trip westwards worthwhile when they came away with a six point victory on a final score line of Tourmakeady 4-9 Mayo Gaels 4-3. They are away to Ballinrobe next Monday, August 22nd.
 
U-12s complete league campaign unbeaten. Carras 3-15 Mayo Gaels 5-12
Well done to our U-12 team who completed their league campaign unbeaten with a narrow win over in an exciting game in Garrymore on Monday evening. The Gaels lads ran out three point winners on a final score line of Carras 3-15 Mayo Gaels 5-12. They finished the league with a 100% record winning six games out of six.
     
U-14s win county title. Mayo Gaels 2-8 Belmullet 0-9
Our U-14 team captured the county C title on Saturday afternoon when they had a hard fought win over Belmullet in McHale Park. The Gaels lead at halftime by three but Belmullet came back strongly and levelled the game mid way through the second half. They Gaels responded well and showed great character to finish strongly and win the county title on a score line of 2-8 to 0-9. Well done to all the players and their managers Charlie Regan and Martin Henry.
   
U-14s reach county final. Mayo Gaels 2-8 Moy Davitts 2-7
Well done to our U-14 team who have reached the county C championship final. On a lovely evening for football in Breaffy they pipped Moy Davitts in a great game. The Gaels had the better of things in the first half and lead by 2-5 to 1-3 at halftime. A strong Moy Davitts comeback in the second half saw the sides’ level at 2-7 apiece in injury time before the Gaels lads found the resolve for one last attack up field and landed the winner. They face Belmullet in the final in McHale Park on Friday or Saturday next.
 
Fintan and Kevin selected for Mayo South East team
Well done to Fintan Canavan and Kevin Jordan who were both selected for the Mayo South East U-16 team that took part in the recent Ted Webb Cup.
 
Successful Bord na nOg trip to the Connacht final
Our Bord na nOg organised a very successful trip to the Connacht final in Hyde Park, Roscommon on Sunday last. Over 50 players were brought on the trip with the U-10s taking on Roscommon side Roscommon Gaels in a challenge game early on Sunday morning. Despite the terrible conditions an enjoyable time was had by all. A big thanks to all club officers, team mentors and parents who helped out on the trip.

Big win for U-14s. Ballintubber 4-10 Mayo Gaels 9-12
Our Under 14 team concluded their group campaign in the County C Championships on Thursday when they had a big win over Ballintubber. They now wait the result of the final group game between Bellmullet and Louisburgh to see if they qualify for the final stages. On a perfect evening for football, the ability of the Gaels to get goals at crucial times eventually proved the difference between the sides. It was still all to play for halftime when the Gaels lead 3-6 to 5-4 after the Gaels had ended the half strongly with three swift goals. Ballintubber started the second half brightly with a goal and two points to put them in front 4-8 to 5-4. But after that the Gaels took over and bagged another four goals along with a host of points to run out winners on a score line of 4-10 to 9-12.
 
U-14s win thriller in championship. Mayo Gaels 4-11 Louisburgh 5-7
In a thrilling game our U-14 team showed great character to overcome a strong Louisburgh side at a rain soaked Abbey Park on Thursday evening. In a nailbiter they overcame the seasiders by the minimum on a final score line of 4-11 to 5-7. They are away to local rivals Ballintubber on Thursday at 7pm.
  
Under strength minors well beaten  league semi final. Kiltimagh 4-22 Mayo Gaels 0-6
An under strength minor team were comprehensively beaten by a physically bigger Kiltimagh side in the division 3 league semi final. The final score was 4-22 to 0-6. They begin their summer league game at home to St Geralds on Friday evening.

U-12s continue unbeaten run. Mayo Gaels 8-16 Shrule-Glencorrib 3-6
Our U-12s continued their unbeaten run when they overcame Shrule-Glencorrib in Abbey Park on Monday. They ran out big winners on a score line of Mayo Gaels 8-16 Shrule-Glencorrib 3-6. They face Carras away in their final mini league game on Monday July 18th.
  
Minor league semi final and U-14 county championship
The U-14C county championship continues home to Louisburgh on Thursday evening. The minors are away to Kiltimagh on Friday at 7pm in the refixed division 3 league semi final.

Adam Gallagher selected on Mayo minor team
Congratulations to Mayo Gaels player Adam Gallagher who has been selected at right half forward for the Mayo minor team to face Roscommon in McHale Park in the Connacht semi final on Sunday at 12pm. Best of luck to Adam and the Mayo minors as they bid for a place in the Connacht final.
 
U-12s make it four out of four. Ballinrobe 8-10 Mayo Gaels 10-16
Well done to our U-12 team who made it four wins out of four in the county mini league when they overcame Ballinrobe on Monday. In an entertaining and very high scoring game the young Gaels ran out 8-10 to 10-16 winners. Their next game is at home to Shrule-Glencorrib on Monday July 4th.
 
U-14s go down battling
Our U-14s put in a battling performance before going down to Shrule-Glencorrib in the South Mayo B semi final. They lost out on a final score line of 6-12 to 4-7.
 
Minor league semi final away to Kiltimagh on July 1st
The division 3 minor league semi final has been fixed for Friday July 1st away to Kiltimagh.

The South Mayo U-14B championship semi final has been fixed away to Shrule-Glencorrib on Thursday at 7pm. The game will be played in Glencorrib.
  
U-12s continue unbeaten start. Mayo Gaels 10-8 Davitts 6-8
Our U-12 team continued their unbeaten start to the league when in a very entertaining game in Abbey Park on Monday evening they over came Davitts. In a goal feast the Gaels came out on top on a final score line of Mayo Gaels 10-8 Davitts 6-8. Their next game is away to Ballinrobe on Monday June 20th.

Our U-12 team continue their mini league campaign when they face Davitts at home on bank holiday Monday at 7pm.
 
Brave performance but U-14s lose out in league final. Mayo Gaels 3-6 Islandeady 4-15
Our U-14s put in a very brave performance in the league final in McHale Park on Friday evening. A physically stronger Islandeady side ran out winners on a score line of Mayo Gaels 3-6 Islandeady 4-15. All the team gave 100% but Gerry Canavan was outstanding scoring 2-3 and was unlucky not to register two more goals hitting the crossbar. They now prepare for the championship later in the summer.
 
U-14 league final fixed for McHale Park on Friday at 6:30pm
The U-14 league division 4 final has been fixed for Friday evening at 6:30pm in McHale Park. The Gaels will take on Islandeady.
 
U-14s beat Balla to reach league final. Balla 2-8 Mayo Gaels 7-11
They say a week is a long time in politics but three weeks proved to be a very long time in U-14 football. In three weeks our U-14 team turned a three point defeat by Balla into an eighteen point win on Thursday evening in Balla. A great performance by the Gaels lads saw them run out easy winners on a scoreline of Balla 2-8 Mayo Gaels 7-11. They will play either Islandeady or Kilcommon in the league final on June 2nd, 3rd or 4th.
 
U-12s record second win. St Geralds 1-7 Mayo Gaels 4-10
Our U-12 team record their second win in the league when they beat St Geralds on Monday evening. After a good performance from both sides the Gaels lads won 1-7 to 4-10.
 
U-14s win to reach league semi final. Kiltane 2-7 Mayo Gaels 5-8
Our U-14 team made the long trip to Bangor and came away with the necessary win to reach the league semi final. Anyone who has played in Bangor knows that wins are rare down there but the young Gaels lads put in a fine performance to win 207 to 5-8. The play Balla away in the league semi on Thursday at 7pm.
 
Minors win again. Mayo Gaels 4-14 The Neale 3-9
A strong second half helped our minor team to overcome a four point halftime deficient to beat The Neale on Friday evening. A good spread of scores and an excellent individual performance by Alan Morris saw them run out 4-14 to 3-9 winners.
 
U-12s begin season with win. Mayo Gaels 6-16 The Neale 6-14
Our U-12 team began their season at home to The Neale on Monday evening. U-12 games are played under non competitive "Go-Games" rules. In a very entertaining game the final score was Mayo Gaels 6-16 The Neale 6-14.
     
Minors continue winning ways. Mayo Gaels 1-12 Ballyhaunis 2-5
Our minor team continued their recent good form with a four point win over Ballyhaunis on Monday evening. The Gaels set out their early with a well taken Brian Flynn goal. Against an inconsistent Ballyhaunis side they controlled the game from then on. A confident team performance with scores coming from all over the pitch saw them win on a final score line of Mayo Gaels 1-12 Ballyhaunis 2-5. They are at home to The Neale on Friday evening at 7pm.
    
U-14s go down narrowly. Mayo Gaels 7-9 Islandeady 9-8
Despite scoring seven goals our U-14s were unlucky to lose to Islandeady on Sunday afternoon. In an entertaining game the final score was 7-9 to 9-8. Their final league game is away to Kiltane on Thursday May 19th.

Our U-12 team kick off their season on Monday evening at 7pm at home to The Neale.
 
Huge win for minors. Mayo Gaels 9-11 St Geralds 1-6
Our minor team recorded a surprisingly large win over St Geralds in Abbey Park on Friday evening. St Geralds were short a number of players and the Gaels lads took full advantage easily winning on a score line of Mayo Gaels 9-11 St Geralds 1-6. They are at home to Ballyhaunis on Monday evening at 7pm.
  
U-14s go down narrowly. Balla 6-6 Mayo Gaels 4-9
Our U-14s made the short trip to Balla on Thursday evening and narrowly lost out to the home side. The Gaels lads were unlucky to lose on a score line of 6-6 to 4-9. This is their first defeat of the season and they remain in contention for the league title. They have a big game at home to Islandeady on Sunday at 12pm.
  
U-16s draw away. Westport B 2-12 Mayo Gaels 4-6
Our U-16s travelled to Westport on Tuesday evening and came away with a share of the spoils. The final score was Westport B 2-12 Mayo Gaels 4-6. They are home to Shrule-Glencorrib on Tuesday next.
 
Minors take victory over local rivals. St Cronans 2-9 Mayo Gaels 2-11
In a fine team performance our minor team overcame a hostile environment to seal local pride with a win over St Cronans (the combined powers of Balla and Parke) on Monday evening. A late Adam Gallagher penalty sealed the win on a score line of St Cronans 2-9 Mayo Gaels 2-11. They face St Geralds at home on Friday evening.
 
Bord na nOg Race Night a huge success
The Bord na nOg race night proved to be a huge success on Saturday night. A large crowd had a very enjoyable night in The Olde Woods, Balla. Thanks to everyone who purchased horses and attended the night which raised vital funds for this very important aspect of our club.
 
Minors game with St Geralds rescheduled to Friday May 6
Please note that the minors game with St Geralds due to take place this Friday has been rescheduled to Friday May 6.
 
U-14s remain unbeaten. Ardmoy 2-11 Mayo Gaels 8-16
Our U-14s remain unbeaten when they made the long journey north to play Ardmoy and came away with a big win. They ran in eight goals to come away with a 2-11 to 8-16 victory. The game against Castlebar B scheduled for Thursday has been conceded to the Gaels so their next game is away to local rivals Balla on Thursday week May 5th.
 
Minors draw. Mayo Gaels 0-18 Naomh Padraig 3-9
Our minor team played out a draw with Naomh Padraig at Abbey Park on Monday evening. They lead at one stage by ten points but Naomh Padraig fought back for a draw on a final score of 0-18 to 3-9. They face St Geralds at home on Friday evening.
 
Busy week of fixtures
It's a busy of fixtures. The U-16s are away to Westport B on Tuesday. The U-14s are home to Castlebar B on Thursday. The minors are home to Naomh Padraig on Monday nad home to St Geralds on Friday.
 
Minors record first league win. St Muredachs 1-12 Mayo Gaels 1-13
Our minor team made the journey to Ardnaree on Good Friday to take on amalgamation side St Muredachs (Ardnaree and Bonniconlon) and recorded their first league win. In a fine team performance the edged an exciting game by the minimum to record a 1-12 to 1-13 win. They are at home to Naomh Padraig on Monday.
 
U-14s continue winning ways with two wins
Our U-14 team continued their unbeaten start to the league when they recorded two wins this week. On Tuesday they had a big win over Kilmeena in Abbey Park. The Gaels lads went on a goal spree and ran out 9-18 to 2-6 winners. On Thursday the travelled to Achill and came away with another big win but not before a battle. They ran out 7-9 to 1-5. They are home to Castlebar B next Thursday.
 
Bord na nOg race night Saturday April 30th
A race night in aid of Mayo Gaels Bord na nOg will take place on Saturday April 30th at 9pm in the Olde Woods, Balla. Horses are on sale now for €10. Please support the night by purchasing a horse.

It's a busy of fixtures. The U-16s are away to Shrule-Glencorrib on Tuesday and home to Ballycroy on Saturday. The U-14s are home to Kilmeena on Thursday. The minors are home to Ballyhaunis on Friday.
 
Minors lose to Kiltimagh. Kiltimagh 0-16 Mayo Gaels 1-4
Our minor team lost out away to Kiltimagh on Sunday morning. A physically stronger home side pulled away in the final twenty minutes and ran out winners on a score line of Kiltimagh 0-16 Mayo Gaels 1-4. They are home to Ballyhaunis on Saturday evening at 7pm.
Second win in a row for U-14s. Kilmovee 2-2 Mayo Gaels 6-13
Well done to our U-14 team who continued their good start to the league with a second win in a row. The recorded a big victory away to Kilmovee winning on a score line of 2-2 to 6-13. They are home to Kilmeena next Thursday evening.
 
Minors begin campaign with exciting draw. Mayo Gaels 5-7 Breaffy 4-10
Our minor team began their league campaign with an exciting draw with Breaffy at a very wet Abbey Park. The high score line was a credit to both teams football skills in difficult conditions. Brian Flynn and Aaron were the heroes for the Gaels scoring three and two goals respectively. A fair result overall on a final score line of Mayo Gaels 5-7 Breaffy 4-10. Their next game is away to Kiltimagh on Sunday at 12pm.
 
U-14s off to winning start. Mayo Gaels 6-9 Kilcommon 5-10
Well done to our U-14 team who got their league campaign off to a winning start with a 6-9 to 5-10 win over Kilcommon.

The U-16s are home to Parke on Tuesday and home to Westport B on Sunday. The U-14s are at home to Kilcommon on Thursday and away to Ardmoy on Saturday. The minors are at home to Breaffy on Friday at 7pm.
 
U-8, U-10 and U-12 training starts Monday at 7pm
U-8, U-10 and U-12 training starts tomorrow evening at 7pm.

U-14 training commences this Sunday March 13th at 12pm. All U-14 players for the 2011 season are asked to attend.
 
James Horan special guest at Bord na nOg presentation, Sunday February 27th, 6pm
The 2010 Bord na nOg presentations will take place in the Mayo Abbey Resource centre on Sunday February 27th at 6pm. The club is delighted to announce that the special guest for the evening will be Mayo senior manager James Horan.
 
New Bord na nOg chairman and secretary
The The 2010 Bord na nOg AGM took place on Friday last in the Abbey Park clubhouse. There were comprehensive reports from outgoing chairman John Gallagher and secretary Karen Keane. Both reflected on a very successful year for our underage teams. The U-8 and U-10 teams competed in numerous blitz’s and go games, acquitting themselves very well. The U-12s had a great run in their league only losing one game and finishing runners up in their league. The U-14s qualified for the championship final in their grade but lost out in the final in McHale Park. The U-16s had a superb year only losing one game while completing a marvellous treble winning the league, South Mayo championship and the highlight of the year being their nail biting game with Kiltane in McHale Park to capture the county title. The minors also tasted success winning the league but were unfortunate to lose out to Ballinrobe in the championship final.
 
The club would like to thank John and Karen for all their hard work over the last three years for the Bord na nOg. Paul Murtagh has taken over as chairman for 2011. Martin Henry is the new Bord na nOg secretary. Best of luck to Paul and Martin in their new roles.attend.
